Indian fan receives death threat after Pakistan jersey prank goes wrong during India vs Pakistan game
The thrilling clash between India and Pakistan saw the ‘Men in Blue’ registering a thumping win over their arch-rivals. Hardik Pandya emerged as the ‘star of the show’ as he picked three wickets and scored 33 off 17 deliveries to help his team chase down the target of 148. The game was thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd present at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium who cheered at their loudest for their favourite teams. While the match turned out to be a memorable day for most fans, one Indian fan found himself in trouble after the game for wearing a Pakistan jersey in the stadium.
The 42-year-old Sanyam Jaiswal, a resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh travelled all the way from India to UAE just to watch the mega-clash. As he reached outside the stadium, he looked for Indian jersey but they were all sold out. He then went ahead and bought the Pakistan jersey with the intention to tease Pakistan fans. But little did he know that his idea to prank Pakistan fans will have a disastrous result for his family.
After the game ended pictures of ‘an Indian man supporting Pakistan’ went viral in his hometown. After the identification of the person in the picture Sanyam’s family started getting death threats. The matter was even highlighted on social media platforms tagging Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and other senior BJP politicians to take prompt action and register an FIR against Sanyam.
However, Sanyam immediately sensed the gravity of the matter and stated his clarification by revealing his side of the story. “I am the supporter of Indian cricket team and was vouching for Men in Blue throughout the match. I travelled from India just to extend my support our boys but by the time I reached the stadium, Indian jersey was sold out. I thought of wearing Pakistan jersey and tease Pakistan cricket fans,” he told local media.
The Indian cricket fan also revealed that he was carrying an Indian national flag. “My father is heart patient and he is having tough time since I started getting death threats,” added Sanyam. However, SSP (Bareilly) Satyartha Aniruddha Pankaj has claimed that as matter has taken place outside the country, and outside their jurisdiction area, no FIR will lodged in the matter.
