Indian T20 League 2022: Hyderabad vs Kolkata – Top 10 memes

Hyderabad faced off against Kolkata in the 25^th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Brabourne Stadium has thus far provided some sporting wickets with something for everybody. The 25^th match of the tournament was no exception.

Hyderabad won the toss and Kane Williamson decided to field first. Kolkata decided to bench Ajinkya Rahane owing to his lack of form and decided to play Aaron Finch for the match. The new opening pair of Finch and Venkatesh Iyer, however, did not last long. The first wicket of Kolkata fell in the second over of the innings for a score of just 11 runs. After this Kolkata kept losing wickets frequently and were 3 down inside the powerplays. The skipper of the team Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana stabilized Kolkata’s innings with a partnership of 39 runs. But Shreyas Iyer did not last long and was dismissed for 28 runs off 25 deliveries by Umran Malik. Nitish Rana however, continued with his steady progress and completed his half-century. He was dismissed for a personal score of 54 runs off 36 deliveries by T. Natarajan in the 18^th over of the innings. Andre Russell came out to bat at number seven for Kolkata and did what he does best. He thrashed the Hyderabad bowling scoring 49 runs off 25 balls, hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes during his stay. On the back of Russell’s power hitting at the death, Kolkata was able to post a total of 175 runs on the board in their 20 overs.

Hyderabad was rocked early in the chase as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed in the second over. The skipper of the team, Kane Williamson was not able to impact the innings too big. He was dismissed for 17 runs off 16 deliveries by Andre Russell in the 6^th over of the innings. Rahul Tripathi batting at number 3 for Hyderabad decided to change the momentum of the age as he took on the Kolkata bowling. He gave the Hyderabad innings the momentum they needed in the chase. At the end of the 10^th over of the innings, Hyderabad was 95 for 2. Rahul Tripathi was looking in ominous hitting form, and with him being present at the crease the equation of 81 runs from 10 overs looked quite achievable for the orange army.

Rahul Tripathi continued his aggressive batting and changed the momentum of the match. He was dismissed in the 15^th over of the innings after he scored 71 runs off 37 deliveries. Aiden Markram continued his steady progress even after Tripathi’s dismissal and with help of Nicholas Pooran took his team to a comfortable victory. Hyderabad won the match in the 18^th over of the innings with 7 wickets in hand. This was the third consecutive victory for the men in orange in the tournament.
