Rajasthan and Bangalore faced each other in the 13^th match of the Indian T20 League 2022. The match went down the wire and kept the fans interested till the end.

Bangalore won the toss and as it has been the norm of the season, they decided to field first. Rajasthan batting first in the match lost a wicket very early in their innings. Devdutt Padikkal and Jos Buttler started to build a steady partnership for the team. They stitched a partnership of 70 runs when Padikkal was dismissed by Harshal Patel. Padikkal scored 37 runs off 29 deliveries with 2 fours and 2 sixes. The Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson failed to make an impact with the bat as he was dismissed when Rajasthan’s score was 86 for 3 in the 12^th over. Shimron Hetmyer and Jos Buttler got together at this stage and both remained unbeaten till the end of the innings. They scored 83 runs from the last 50 deliveries of the innings. Hetmyer stayed not out on 42 of 31 deliveries. Jos Buttler just picked up from where he left in the last match. The momentum that he got from the century in the previous match, was evident in this innings also. He scored 70 runs off 47 deliveries hitting 6 sixes in the process. Rajasthan ultimately put up a total of 169 runs in their 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers for Bangalore was Harshal Patel with 1 wicket from 4 overs conceding just 18 runs.

Bangalore’s start to the chase was brilliant. The opening partnership was of 55 runs in 7 overs. Faf was the first wicket to fall for Bangalore at this stage. Du Plessis scored 29 off 20 deliveries before walking back. After this the Bangalore batting order suffered a collapse. They lost the next three wickets for just 7 runs. Dinesh Karthik walked out to bat when the team’s score was 87 for 5. The 14th over of the innings was a magic from Karthik’s part. He hit the experienced Ravichandran Ashwin for 21 runs in the over. The game started to change color from there on. Dinsesh Karthik began attacking the Rajasthan bowler’s ruthlessly . He got an equally able partner in Shabaz Ahmed. The duo smashed 50 runs in the period between the 14th to 16th over of the innings and pocketed the match. Trent Boult picked up Shabaz Ahmed in the 18th over. But the match was over by then. Ahmed went back scoring 45 off 26 deliveries. But Karthik stayed till the end and ensured the win for his team. He scored 44 runs of 23 deliveries as Bangalore won the match by 4 wickets with 5 balls still remaining in the match. Karthik’s birlliant innings became the center of attraction on Twitter.
