Rajasthan and Gujarat locked horns in the 24th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the DY Patil Stadiums in Mumbai. The pitch had favored the batter in the tournament and it continued to be so in this match.

Rajasthan won the toss and invited the opposition to bat first. Gujarat had a terrible start to their innings as they lost two early wickets and were down to 15 for two in the third over of the innings. Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya stitched a small partnership of 38 runs stabilizing the innings a bit. But the partnership was broken by Riyan Parag as he picked up the wicket of in form Shubman Gill (13 off 14). Abhinav Manohar joined Hardik in the middle and the duo stitched a brilliant partnership of 86 runs helping Gujarat on the way to a formidable total. Manohar was dismissed in the 16th over at a personal score of 43 runs off 28 deliveries. He hit two sixes and four fours in his knock and showed great composure during his stay at the crease.

Hardik continued his onslaught at the opposite end as David Miller joined him in the middle. Miller played a brilliant little cameo scoring 31 runs off 14 deliveries as he hit five fours and a six. Pandya remained unbeaten on 87 off 52 deliveries at the end of the innings. Gujarat reached a formidable total of 192 runs in their 20 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal was the best bowler for Rajasthan as he picked up a wicket in his four overs conceding 32 runs.

Rajasthan had a blazing start to their innings as Jos Buttler took the attack on the bowlers from the very beginning. Devdutt Padikkal however failed to get off the mark as he was dismissed on the last ball of the second over. Ravichandran Ashwin was sent in at number three by Rajasthan, but the experiment did not work as he was dismissed for just 8 runs off 8 deliveries by Lockie Ferguson. The Kiwi pacer dismissed Jos Buttler in the same over with a brilliant slower yorker. Buttler scored 54 runs off 24 deliveries hitting eight fours and three sixes. Rajasthan kept losing wickets after that and were down to 90 for five in the 11th over. Riyan Parag joined Shimron Hetmyer at this stage. The Indian batter kept rotating the strike while Hetmyer was looking to be aggressive.

As Hetmyer (29 off 17) was beginning to look dangerous, Mohammed Shami dismissed him in the 13th over of the innings. Rajasthan’s batting order was under pressure at 116 for 6 after the end of the over. With five over left in the match Rajasthan was 130 for 6 needing 63 runs. Riyan Parag and James Neesham were the batters on the crease for the men in pink and blue. With just 4 wickets in hand the equation looked a tough one for Rajasthan. The remaining of the batting order fell weak for Rajasthan as they finished with a total of losing the match by . Gujarat won their 4th match of the season out of 5, while Rajasthan lost their second of the campaign.
