Indian T20 League: Hyderabad finalize six-member coaching panel, Steyn roped in as pace bowling coach
Indian T20 League franchise Hyderabad have managed to get an enviable six-member coaching panel on board for the upcoming 15th edition of the Indian T20 League (ITL). Tom Moody has been finalized as the head coach of the team. Moody served as the head coach from 2013-19 before he was promoted as the Director of Cricket, a role he served in the last two seasons. However, he is back at the helm now.
Moody will take over from Trevor Bayliss, who was at the helm for the past two years. Simon Katich has been roped in as the assistant coach of the team. The former Australian cricketer was last seen in the coaching capacity for Bangalore.
Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara has been named the team’s batting coach. The legendary cricketer will also be seen in the role of strategy advisor. Meanwhile, Hyderabad have roped in Dale Steyn as the pace bowling coach.
Muttiah Muralitharan, who was the bowling mentor of the team during the 2021 edition of ITL, will take charge as spin bowling consultant of the team. The former Sri Lankan off-spinner has been associated with SRH for the past few years. Murali will solely oversee the spin department now. Also, Hemang Badani has been named the fielding coach and scout of the team.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad have retained only three players – Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad, and Umran Malik ahead of the mega auctions for ITL 2022. The team have let go of quite a few players. The franchise would now look to add new players during mega auctions, set to be held in February 2022
