As the cricketing world eagerly anticipates the ODI World Cup in 2023, one question looms large, which team will enter the tournament as the number one ranked ODI team? The race for the top spot in the ODI rankings is heating up, with three cricketing giants, India, Pakistan, and Australia vying for the spot.

India, known for its formidable batting lineup and world-class spinners, has consistently been among the top-ranked ODI teams. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue have a track record of success in major tournaments and will be a force to be reckoned with in the World Cup.

They recently won the Asia Cup 2023 but failed to grab the top position. They are sitting behind Pakistan with a margin of very few points. Talking about Pakistan, their unpredictable yet talented squad has the ability to outshine any opponent on their day. Their bowlers, especially in seam-friendly conditions, can wreak havoc, and their batters possess the flair to chase down daunting totals.

Will Pakistan retain their no.1 ODI ranking spot?

The Men in Green are currently the no. 1 ODI ranked team in the world but it would be interesting to if they retain their spot till the ODI World Cup or if any other nation will replace them. Coming to Australia, a cricketing powerhouse, boasts a rich history of ODI success. With a balanced team featuring explosive hitters and deadly pacers, the Aussies are always strong contenders in global competitions.

Australia are the no. 3 ranked ODI team currently, however, they had a golden chance of becoming the no. 1 team if they had defeated South Africa in the 5-match ODI series but that didn’t happen. However, they will be playing a 3-match ODI series against India and the series will be an opportunity for both nations to become no. 1.

With the ODI World Cup 2023 just around the corner, the cricketing world is in for a thrilling spectacle, as India, Pakistan, and Australia vie for supremacy and aim to capture the number one ranking in the ODI format. Cricket fans can expect intense matches, spectacular performances, and fierce competition as these cricketing giants strive to make their mark on the global stage.
