IPL 2024:5 Highest Team Score in the IPL history

Ahead of the upcoming 17th edition of the IPL 2024, we bring you a list of the top five highest team totals ever recorded in the history of the IPL.
Let’s look at the top five team scores in the history of IPL
1. RCB – 263/5 vs PWI in 2012
The greatest in the history of the tournament across the 16th season as the world witnessed the Gayle storm. Royal Challengers Bangalore came to the field to 1st and opening at Chris Gayle smashed 175* runs which still remains as the record for the highest score recorded in the format. RCB gave the then IPL franchise Pune Warriors India a target of 264 runs, which they miserably failed to chase.
2. RCB – 248/3 vs GL in 2016
The Tigers of Royal Challengers Bangalore once again made a roar in 2016 as they competed against the IPL franchise Gujarat Lions. Under a magnificent partnership of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli, the team scored 248 runs on the board as both the batsmen scored a quick century, Virat (109) and AB (129) with dozens of boundaries. Gujarat Lions got dismissed for 148 runs and RCB won the match by 144 runs.
3. CSK – 246/5 vs RR in 2010
The champions of the season Chennai Super Kings put a gigantic target in front of Rajasthan Royals in 2010 as they scored 246 runs, which was the highest recorded of the season. The opening batsman Murali Vijay scored 127 runs which led CSK to a high total. The Royals gave a tough fight but unfortunately fell short of 23 runs and CSK ultimately won the match.
4. KKR – 245/6 vs KXIP in 2018
Kolkata Knight Riders put a mammoth target on the board against Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings) in 2018 as they scored 245 runs at the loss of six wickets. Sunil Naraine and Dinesh Karthik led KKR to this score as they hit 75 and 50 while taking a few deliveries. KXIP opening batsman KL Rahul was the only leading man in the team but could not take the team towards victory as they fell short of 31 runs.
5. CSK – 240/5 vs KXIP in 2008
Chennai Super Kings targeted Kings XI Punjab in the first season of IPL as they created the highest score of the inaugural season of the tournament in 2008. The CSK batsman smashed 240 runs in 20 overs and the veteran cricketer Michael Hussey scored 116* runs on just 54 balls. Kings XI Punjab failed to achieve the target and Chennai Super Kings won the match by 33 runs.
