Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be hoping to enter 2024 with one aim in mind. That is to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) title next year in their third attempt. Gujarat and Lucknow came into the league together but Gujarat went on to win the title in their first attempt.

Justin Langer has replaced Andy Flower as the coach of the side. Gautam Gambhir who was the mentor has gone back to KKR to take up the same role. With new team management in place, LSG and KL Rahul will want to look forward to the season ahead.

Once his appointment was confirmed, Justin Langer had a frank conversation with the owner of LSG. The two chatted about the future of the team and what the results and direction were going to be.

Justin Langer reveals chat with LSG owner –

Former Australian opener, Justin Langer has spoken about his goals in the IPL for the coming year. Lucknow Super Giants posted a video of their new coach speaking about what he had heard about the IPL from his former teammate Ricky Ponting.

“Having sat with Ricky for so long he talked about his time with the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. How much he loves the tournament. And Tom Moody, one of my best friends, he’s been so involved in the IPL and just to hear them talking about it”

Justin Langer went on to equate the IPL to the Olympics during his chat “The IPL is like the Olympic Games. It is so big. Every game is a spectacle, it is so well received, it is so well supported, not just at the stadiums, but all through India and around the world. To have the opportunity to be a part of that is something I am very, very excited about,”

Sanjeev Goenka had a frank chat with Justin Langer before the Australian signed on the dotted line. “I received a text message asking if I was interested in coaching in the IPL. It was from Vinay telling me that the owner Sanjiv was in London at the same time and would I be interested in having a coffee with him”

The key point of the char as mentioned by Langer was “He is a really good salesman the boss, because the last thing he said to me was you know, Justin, you’ve had a great playing career, you’ve had a very very good coaching career but you can’t consider yourself a great coach until you’ve won the IPL.
