‘Is jeet ka maza he kuch aur hai’ – Fans react as India beat Australia by six wickets in ODI World Cup 2023

In the 5th game of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, India and Australia opened their respective campaigns in the tournament. They are the last two teams who were yet to play a game in the tournament. However, the five-time winners, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. They had a poor start as Mitchell Marsh was caught at slips by Virat Kohli off Jasprit Bumrah in the third over.

At 5/1, the likes of former skipper and vice-captains, Steve Smith and David Warner respectively put together 69 runs. The latter, after scoring 41 was caught and bowled by Kuldeep Yadav. Smith (46) also failed to reach his fifty as he was done by a peach from Ravindra Jadeja. From 110/3, the team had a major collapse, possibly after a long time. After the wicket of Smith, the India spinner started taking the control of the game in the Men In Blue’s favor.

At one point, they were reduced to 140/7. Thanks to the contribution with the bat from bowlers such as Mitchell Starc (28), skipper Pat Cummins (15), and Adam Zampa, the team reached 199 all-out. However, it was never going to be enough for the Yellow Brigade. For India, Jadeja took three wickets while Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav taking two each. Apart from this, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya, and Ravichandran Ashwin took one each.

India had a shaky start but chase down the target easily in the end

In reply, the two-time World Champions had a horror start as they lost three wickets for two runs. While the likes of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer got out to poor shots, Rohit Sharma got a beauty from Josh Hazlewood. At this stage, the likes of former skipper Virat Kohli and KL Rahul put together 165 runs for the fourth wicket. The former got out after getting 85 when the team needed only 33 runs to win. On the other hand, Rahul scored 97 not out and the team won by six wickets.
