‘Ise kehte hai respect earn karna’ – Fans react to PBKS batter Jitesh Sharma’s ‘I idolise Rohit Sharma’ comments
Vidarbha and Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma has been phenomenal in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. He has scored 190 runs in an ongoing tournament at a strike rate of 163.39. With some crucial knocks, Jitesh has helped PBKS to clinch some important victories. However, ahead of their next game against Mumbai Indians, Jitesh praised MI skipper Rohit Sharma for supporting him.
While speaking with a media house, Jitesh said that he idolise the Indian skipper and it was his dream to bat with him. Notably, Jitesh was a part of the IPL-winning MI squad in 2016 and 2017. He played as a top-order batter in that team and won IPL in 2017. He also received his maiden India call during the Sri Lanka series in January this year.
Meanwhile, speaking with RCN news Jitesh said, “I Idolise Rohit Sharma, it’s a dream to bat with him once, I can’t even describe how much he helped during MI days”. He further recalled his days with Mumbai Indians and talked about it too. Notably, during the Mega auction of 2018, MI tried to get him back but eventually failed as Punjab Kings got him.
“Focus on using the speed of the bowler”, Rohit’s suggestion to Jitesh
Earlier, while receiving Maiden national call Jitesh spoke to a YouTube channel about his journey. While speaking with the news channel, Jitesh explained how Rohit helped him to understand his game and gave some valuable suggestions. He said, “When I was with MI, I was a top-order batter and naturally, Rohit Sharma has been one of my favourite players.”
“I had once interacted with him in the nets, where he told me, ‘Focus on using the speed of the bowler. When the speed of the bowler increases, it is better to trust your timing rather than your power game.’ So, that advice has stayed with me and I try and implement it to date”, he further added.
Notably, Mumbai Indians will face Punjab Kings in their next game on Wednesday at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. The team will look to avenge their last defeat at the Wankhede stadium and will look to continue their winning run.

Respect is not imposed nor begged. It has to be earned and offered by your behavior. pic.twitter.com/laxHA4SKuL

We should keep our bias aside & accept that both king & hitman has helped a lot of young batters to improve in various aspects of their batting
