Ishan Kishan neglects Indian Cricket Board’s directive; Triggers ‘Missing Ranji Trophy’ controversy

The Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah has given a directive to every established cricketer to concentrate on domestic cricket. Players like Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Mayank Aggarwal are featuring in the Ranji Trophy and giving us some of the great performances in the tournament. These players might not be on the side right now but are making sure they give some great performances to get a call back into the Test side. With the World Test Championship (WTC) going onto these, there are chances that the players still might get the skin in the game.

The one player who has been out of the limelight right now is the left-handed pocket dynamo, Ishan Kishan. Kishan has already given some great performances in white ball cricket for the national side and was set to be next in line after Rishabh Pant in the setup. Kishan was given his first opportunity in Test matches in the West Indies series, where he impressed everyone with his fearless style of cricket. Presently, the 25-year-old wicket-keeper batter from Jharkhand is facing several problems.

Kishan neglected the directive

Kishan was supposed to be part of the South Africa Test series but had excluded himself on the grounds of mental fatigue. There was some advice that was given to him by the coaching staff, which included him playing domestic cricket before getting back into the Test team. Kishan has ignored the directive completely and still hasn’t featured for the Jharkhand team in the tournament. Kishan was already excluded from the Afghanistan series and the current England series as well.

Kishan is a talented player who is capable of playing some great innings. The directive was given to give importance to red-ball cricket, which was completely ignored by Kishan. This is when Kishan might ruin his chances in Test cricket completely. Kishan is a talented batter who can fit into the new style of free-flowing Test cricket that will make him a big asset to the side.
