Ishan Kishan shares powerful lines from a rap song after missing out on Asia Cup 2022 squad
India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 was announced on Monday. Indian veteran batter, Rohit Sharma will lead the team, while KL Rahul would be his deputy. Former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli will also make his return to the team.
Besides, the solid middle-order comprises the likes of Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, and Hardik Pandya. Amidst that, there were a lot of names that were omitted from the squad.
Among those, Ishan Kishan is one notable cricketer who couldn’t make it into the squad. The southpaw has been a mainstay in India’s T20I squad. However, due to fierce competition at the top of the order, Kishan hasn’t been able to cement his place as an opener.
He was part of India’s T20 World Cup 2021 squad but hasn’t played a lot of games for India, since. After missing out on the Asia Cup 2022 squad, Ishan Kishan expressed his disappointment by sharing motivational lines from a rap song Bella – Humble Poet on his Instagram story.
The lines read:
“Ki Ab Aisa Banna Nahi, Bhale Ghayal Ho Jaana
Tujhe Phool Samjhe Koi Toh, Tu Fire Ho Jaana
Bella Peeche Rehna, Magar Sab Sambhal”
Ishan Kishan was part of the T20I squad in the series against England and West Indies but got the opportunity to play in one match each against both teams. He couldn’t make an impact as he could only manage to score 19 runs combined.
For the wicket-keeper slot, the selectors have gone with the likes of Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. Besides, vice-captain KL Rahul can also don the wicket-keeping gloves if the need arises. In his international T20I career so far, Ishan Kishan has played 19 T20 internationals, scoring 543 runs at an average of 30.2.
Here’s a look at India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2022:
Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan
