The 15th edition of the Asia Cup is going to kick off on 27 August 2022. After winning both the ODI and T20I series, the Indian Cricket Board announced a 15-member squad for India. Big names like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul made a comeback as per expectations. But, India dealt with a major blow before the announcement.
Earlier, several reports confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel will not be a part of the squad due to injuries. But, the Indian selectors excluded some significant names from the final list of the Asia Cup. Notably, these names can create a team that can give a fight to any side easily in any tournament. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Rahul Tripathi can be the backups for this absentee XI Team.

Shikhar Dhawan
This left-handed opener can be a good option for this team. Recently, Shikhar Dhawan made a comeback for India. He played in the ODIs against England and West Indies. He also led the team in West Indies in the absence of Rohit Sharma. However, he missed the ticket for the upcoming Asia Cup. Meanwhile, he will lead again India in three ODIs in Zimbabwe. In the West Indies, he scored 168 runs in three matches at an average of 56.
