Former Pakistan skipper and head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq has criticized Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Apparently, the reports of Mickey Arthur’s rehiring as Pakistan’s head coach once again resurfaced. He previously worked at the same role from 2016 to 2019. After the 2019 ODI World Cup, Arthur was sacked as the side failed to qualify for the semis. Meanwhile, the South African had recently rejected the offer citing different reasons.

Meanwhile, Misbah-ul-Haq who replaced Arthur in 2019, has criticized PCB over the matter. He said that it is a slap on the Pakistan cricketing system that the board can’t hire a high-profile full-time coach. For the unversed, Arthur is said to be committing himself on a part-time basis. Meanwhile, the 2009 20-20 World Cup winners, Haq added that it is a shame that the best coaches treat Pakistan’s side as a second option.

“It’s a slap on our cricket system that we are not able to find a high-profile full-time coach,” Misbah told ESPNcricinfo. “It’s a shame that the best ones do not want to come and we insist on having someone who is looking at Pakistan as a second option.

We have disrespected and discredited our own people: Misbah-ul-Haq

The former Pakistan skipper further added that his national cricket system is weak for others to exploit. Haq also mentioned that the former players disrespected each other which gives a bad image of Pakistan cricket.

“I blame our own system, which is vulnerable enough with so many weak lines for anyone to exploit it. We are to be blamed ourselves that we have disrespected and discredited our own people to make a bad image. The present and former lot don’t respect each other, with media and former players using their own YouTube channels for ratings, damaging the credibility and value of our cricket which, as as result, gives an impression that we are not capable.”
