‘Jaddu Hame Baksha Do’ – Ravindra Jadeja rips through Australia batters with career-best figures in 2nd BGT Test
India continued their dominance against Australia in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy and so does Ravindra Jadeja. The 34-year-old leg-spinner registered his career-best figures in Test as the hosts bowled out Australia for 113 runs giving a target of 115 runs to India.
Coming to bat on day three with 61 for 1, the Australian batting line-up completely surrendered in front Indian spin duo and lost the last 9 wickets for just 48 runs. Jadeja scalped 7 wickets conceding 42 runs in 12.1 overs. He took the wickets of Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Peter Handscomb, Alex Carey, Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, and Matthew Kuhnemann. He has taken 18 wickets so far in the ongoing Test series.
Along with Jadeja, star off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets for 59 runs. He took the big wickets of Travis Head, Steve Smith, and Matt Renshaw. Head turned out to be the top scorer for Australia in the second innings scoring 43 runs off 46 balls with six fours and a maximum. Meanwhile, Labuschagne got out after scoring 35 off 50 balls hitting five boundaries.
Only Head and Labuschagne could reach double figure for Australia
Other Head and Labuschagne, none of the Australian could reach the double figure. The visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals and got bowled out in 31.1 overs with a lead of 114 runs. Australia made 263 runs in the first innings and managed to bowl out India for 262 taking a lead of just 1 run in the first inning.
India now require 115 runs to win the second Test of the series and take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in a four-match series and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The hosts have won the trophy in 2017 in India and in 2018-19 and 2020-21 in Australia.
