After winning the last encounter against Delhi Capitals (DC) by 31 runs, Punjab Kings (PBKS) locked horns with the same opponent in the reverse fixture at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, in Dharamshala. The Capitals won the match by 15 runs and gave a big blow to Punjab Kings’ tournament aspirations.
If we talk about the game, PBKS skipper, Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and opted to bowl first. The visitors while batting first scored a total of 213 runs loss of only two wickets. The highest scorer for the side was Rilee Rossouw who scored runs from just 37 balls with six fours and six sixes in his innings. Star India batter, Prithvi Shaw scored a crucial fifty on his comeback. He scored 54 runs off 38 balls with seven fours and a six in his innings. For the Punjab side, two wickets were snapped by star England all-rounder, Sam Curran in his spell of four overs where he conceded 36 runs in his spell.
Exceptional innings from Liam Livingstone: Rilee Rossouw’s batting prowess
PBKS while chasing a mammoth total of 214 runs, the Punjab side was able to score 198 runs with the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. The highest scorer for the side was Liam Livingstone who scored 94 runs from 48 balls which included nine sixes and five fours in his innings. For DC, two wickets Ishant Sharma and Anrich Nortje in their respective spells where they conceded 36 runs each.
“Thanks to the support staff. Chuffed that I could perform for the team. As Davey mentioned was a good wicket. Davey put up a good partnership at the top. I enjoyed some momentum coming in. Just shows that this game is not over till the last ball is bowled. Exceptional innings from Liam,” Rossouw was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
