Jos Buttler picks this Indian player as his dream opening partner
Jos Buttler is in the form of his life in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 for Rajasthan side. Buttler has hit 491 runs in seven games averaging 81.83 and striking at 161.51. This includes three hundreds and two fifties and has made a few records on the way. The right-hander hit two back-to-back hundreds against Kolkata and Delhi respectively.
With that, he has equaled Shikhar Dhawan’s record of hitting two back-to-back hundreds in the Indian T20 League 2022. In the 2020 season, Dhawan played those innings against Chennai and Punjab respectively. On the other hand, the 31-year-old has also broken the record of Chris Gayle (2011), Hashim Amla (2017), and Dhawan (2020) as the trio hit two hundreds in their respective seasons.
Not to forget, the 2019 World Cup winner is also one hundred away from equaling Virat Kohli’s record of four hundreds in a season. In 2016, Kohli was in a prime form as he hit four hundreds and tallied 973 runs for Bangalore. Also, it is quite possible that the 973 run-record could be broken this year.
Meanwhile, the Taunton-born player has picked current India skipper Rohit Sharma and former West Indies skipper Vivian Richards as his dream opening partners.
“From the past, it would be Vivian Richards. I would love to see him play T20 cricket. From the current, Rohit Sharma,” Buttler said on ESPNcricinfo’s ‘Polite Enquiries’.
Notably, Sharma and the Englishman have played together for Mumbai in 2016 and 2017 before the latter moved to Rajasthan in 2018.
The Lancashire player was also asked which bowler is the most difficult to face in the powerplay. He replied saying that Gujarat vice-captain Rashid Khan has got his number at the moment.
“Rashid Khan. He has got my number at the minute,” the Lancashire player said.
The wicketkeeper batter was also asked about which inning is his best in his Indian T20 League career. He picked the unbeaten 93 against his former team Mumbai in 2018 season as his best inning.
“My best IPL innings was against Mumbai Indians in 2018 when I got 93, I think,” said Buttler.
