‘Kaafi faila hua business hai’ – Mumbai bag their fifth franchise as they acquire New York team in brand new Major League Cricket in USA

A cricket tournament in the USA named Major League Cricket (MLC) will be launched later this year. A total of 6 franchises have participated in the MLC, in which a total of 4 franchises from India have also taken part. These teams included Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. The first Indian franchise to invest in this league was Kolkata and they acquired the Los Angeles team.

Meanwhile, the five times Indian T20 League winner, Mumbai acquitted the New York team, which will be seen playing in the brand new cricket tournament starting in July. This will be the fifth franchise in the world for Mumbai. Earlier, they bought a team in the Indian T20 League, MI Cape Town (SA20), MI Emirates (ILT20), and Mumbai franchise (Women’s T20 League).

“I am thrilled to welcome our New York franchise to our growing Family! With our entry into the first cricket league in the US, I hope we are able to establish Mumbai Indians as a global brand of fearless and entertaining cricket! This is another new beginning for us and I look forward to the exciting journey ahead,” Nita Ambani said in a press release.

“The team will participate in the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket (MLC) subject to completion of customary due diligence; negotiation, and execution of definitive binding agreements, and receipt of required corporate, regulatory, and third-party approvals and compliances,” Nita added.

Indian T20 League 2023 will start on March 31

Meanwhile, the 16^th edition of the richest league in the world is set to kick off on March 31 and the first match will be played between the defending champions Gujarat and the 4 times winner Chennai. The MS Dhoni-led team signed some great players in the mini-auction. England test skipper Ben Stokes, who has played under Dhoni earlier, will be seen playing under him again in the upcoming season.

On the other hand, the Gujarat-based franchise has added Kane Williamson to their squad and will surely be hoping to use his experience to defend their title. Hardik Pandya led the team brilliantly last season and will continue to lead the team in the same way.
