‘Kangaroo ka Raaj’ – Fans react as Australian batters Marnus Labuschange, Steve Smith, and Travis Head hold top 3 Test rankings

After the most recent weekly update, Australia’s Steve Smith and Travis Head joined Marnus Labuschagne at the top of the MRF Tyres Apex Cricket Council’s Men’s Test Player Rankings thanks to their hundreds in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against India at The Oval, in London.

With 903 rating points, Labuschagne maintains his top ranking. Smith has moved up one spot to second place after scoring 121 and 34, while Player of the Match Travis Head has moved up three spots to a career-high third place after scoring 163 and 18. Smith has 885 rating points, Head has 884, and Kane Williamson has 883, making the fight for second place.

It is uncommon for players from the same team to take the top three spots. When West Indies batsmen Gordon Greenidge (810 rating points), Clive Lloyd (787), and Larry Gomes (773) were at the top of the list, the Test batting rankings last saw this situation. After hitting 48 and 66 unbeaten, Alex Carey has moved up 11 spots to 36th, while Nathan Lyon has climbed two spots to sixth and Scott Boland has climbed five spots to 36th of the bowlers rankings after ending the game with five wickets apiece.

Shardul Thakur and Cameron Green moved up the rankings

In the meanwhile, UAE batsman Vriiitya Aravind rose seven spots to rank 49th in the men’s ODI rankings after hitting 36 and 70 against the West Indies in their home series, which was contested in Sharjah and was won by the visiting team 3-0. Following their last series match against Afghanistan, Sri Lankan players Pathum Nissanka (up five spots to 62nd among hitters) and Wanindu Hasaranga (up two spots to 28th among bowlers) have both improved in the most recent update.

The top 10 positions in the Test All-Rounder rankings remained unchanged, while India’s Shardul Thakur moved up three spaces to 31st after demonstrating his skills with both ball and bat throughout the Test. Cameron Green also moved up one spot to 15th. After Afghanistan’s series with Sri Lanka and UAE’s home series against the West Indies, the ODI rankings barely changed elsewhere.

The only notable top-10 movement included Wanindu Hasaranga, whose 3/7 in the last ODI against Afghanistan propelled him over Dhananjaya de Silva and into ninth place on the All-Rounder Rankings.
