‘Kaviya ji se ye ummeed nahi thi’ – Fans react David Warner gets blocked by his former franchise SRH during IPL 2024 auction

There have been a lot of great players in the Indian Premier League(IPL) who have had a lot of great performances and have stayed in the same team for a long time becoming part of the core. However, there is one player who has been one of the key players and leaders of Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2014 and was released in 2022. Warner is one of the best batters in the IPL with over 6000 runs from 176 matches is one of the highest run scorers in IPL history. The southpaw was surprisingly released in 2022 and sacked as captain in 2021. This turned out to be one of the biggest blunders made by the franchise. 

Warner was also the only SRH skipper to win a title back in 2016 and from there, the Hyderabad franchise was also making the playoffs every time. As soon as he was released SRH could not have the same season they had in the previous seasons before 2018 where they made their 2nd final appearance. This also made all Hyderabad fans miss the pocket dynamo and his performances which were very iconic. SRH has never looked the same after 2018.

SRH blocking Warner

Warner got to know that he has been completely blocked by his former team who has given 7 yrs of great performances. This made fans angry at the SRH management for letting such an iconic player go very cheaply. SRH’s terrible performances made it even more difficult to see the team without Warner. This meant that Warner had not only lost the respect of the side but also his respect and communication with the staff as well.

The reason behind the Hyderabad franchise blocking Warner is still a mystery and it seems like Warner might not go back to his former franchise. He will most likely stay at the Delhi Capitals with coaching staff which include Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly who have shown a lot of trust in him. He also was the highest run scorer for Delhi Capitals in the last IPL season. SRH blocking him turned out to be the end of Hyderabad’s great run which started in 2015.
