Kick to broadcast PGL CS2 Copenhagen as its first Major esports event

An official announcement from PGL and Kick Streaming has revealed that the platform will be hosting PGL Copenhagen Major for CS2. The European RMR A for PGL Copenhagen is set to take place on 14 February. This will be the first time Kick will host a major esports event.

Another thing to note is that the matches will be available to watch without any advertisements. “PGL is now streaming live on Kick Streaming, Dive into the heart of the action with PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 – all without a single ad interruption!,” PGL wrote in its statement.

Kick planning to enter the esports scene?

The recent partnership between Kick and Bleed Esports and now the announcement for a major broadcast have left people wondering. Does Kick plan to enter the esports scene and establish itself as one of the mainstream esports broadcasting platforms?

Whatever the case may be, it still has a long way to go as other platforms already have a huge user base. Nevertheless, it is a step towards their goal. The viewership for upcoming RMR matches will tell how far the platform has come. Although, regular streams will also be available on Twitch and YouTube.

What is Kick?

Launched back in 2022, Kick is a livestream platform similar to Twitch and YouTube. The platform made huge waves in the streaming community by making some big contracts. It came as the biggest competitor for other streaming platforms, both in terms of streaming freedom and monetary benefit.

The platform is operated by Stake, which could explain its lucrative deals and profit split. Since it was launched, it has been growing steadily. As per stream charts, the platform saw a growth of 17% by January 2024.
