Kolkata signs World Cup winning skipper as Alex Hales’ replacement for Indian T20 League 2022
Alex Hales recently decided to opt out of the upcoming season of Indian T20 League. Hales cited bio-bubble fatigue for his decision. The right-hander has been busy in the last few months, playing the Big Bash League and Pakistan Super League. He played for Sydney Thunders and Islamabad United respectively. These tournaments were played under a strict bio-secure environment.
The 33-year-old is not the first Englishman to pull out of the 15th season. England opener Jason Roy also pulled out of the cash-rich league for the same reasons last month. Roy was supposed to play for Gujarat this year. He had played the PSL for Quetta Gladiators. Meanwhile, Hales took to Instagram and posted a long message describing why he decided to take such a decision.

On the other hand, Kolkata have opted for Australia limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch as the replacement. Finch will play for the ninth team in the history of the ITL. Meanwhile, CEO and MD of the franchise, Venky Mysore welcomed Finch onboard and said that they respect Alex Hales’ decision.
