With the completion of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Monday, we have both the finalists for the second edition of the Test Championship. Australia was the first team to get the ticket to The Oval after a win in the Indore Test. While India won the series by 2-1, and New Zealand’s thrilling win over Sri Lanka helped them to qualify for the final.

Both India and Australia will lock horns once again on the 7th of June to get the Test Championship title. But Before that, players from both teams will be seen in action in the upcoming season of the Indian T20 League. The 16th edition of the tournament will kickstart from 31st March with an opening match between Gujarat and Chennai in Ahmedabad.

The tournament will end on May 28th, just nine days before the Test Championship final. As such an amount of time will not be enough for some players to prepare for the English conditions, Indian skipper has stated that the management will try to send some players to England before the completion of the tournament, as most of the teams will be out from the race of the playoffs till May 21st.

‘Going to keep in constant touch with all players’ – Rohit

“I believe in preparation and preparations will be key for us come the finals. Around May 21, there will be six teams who will possibly be out of Indian T20 League playoffs contention and so whichever players are available, we will try and find time to get them to the UK early as possible and get some time and we will monitor as much as possible,” said Rohit in a post-match press conference after the Ahmedabad Test.

“I think it is quite critical for us, we are going to keep in constant touch with all players who are going to play that final and monitor their workload and see what’s happening with them. In fact, we are sending some Dukes Balls to all fast bowlers and see if they get some time to bowl with that, but again it all depends on individuals, guys who will be part of finals are not the guys who have not played in the UK and maybe one or two guys here and there and rest all of us have played in that part of the world,” the Indian skipper further added.
