‘Kya player hai tu’ – Fans abuzz as Yashasvi Jaiswal breaks record with staggering 13-ball fifty during KKR vs RR in IPL 2023
Yashasvi Jaiswal has set the Indian Premier League alight with his big hitting against KKR. The Rajasthan Royals opener surpassed KL Rahul’s record of the fastest IPL fifty which he hit off 14 balls in 2018 against DC. Jaiswal got there off just 13 balls. Jaiswal wasted no time as he smashed Nitish Rana for 26 runs off the opening over to set the tone for RR. Having said that the target was not the most challenging as Kolkata Knight Riders could muster just 149-8 in their 20 overs.
It was not Jos Buttler’s day as he run out in a chaotic mix-up with Jaiswal. The left hander went after Harshit Rana as well. He hit him for 10 runs in his opening over. He did not spare Shardul Thakur as well as he minted 13 runs in his over and also brought up a wonderful 50 in the process. KKR’s bowlers did not know what hit them as it was an effortless display of batting from the RR Opener. This was an important game for both teams and with Jaiswal getting runs, RR have punched above their weight.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has made 554 runs in IPL 2023 so far
Jaiswal has been among the runs in this IPL. He is currently second in the leading run scorers list. The same goes too for the Orange Cap as well. The Mumbaikar has made 554 runs in 12 matches at an average of 50.36. The 21-year-old has done beautifully and even in Buttler’s dry spell of form, he has made the big runs and scored at a quick rate. This has helped RR with fast starts at the top and has also allowed Buttler to settle in and take his time.
RR had a great start to the tournament as they kept winning in the first half of the IPL. Then a drastic change in fortunes in the second half meant that they lost 5 off their last 6 games in the second half. In the first innings against KKR, Trent Boult was on fire with the ball. RR’s bowlers were on the money and kept KKR down to sizable total.
