‘Kyu tasalli dene ki khud ko?’ – Fans react as reports emerge on Jasprit Bumrah being fit for ODI World Cup in 2023
Indian fans can now breathe easy as reports of Jasprit Bumrah being fit before the ODI World Cup in India have surfaced. According to the reports, the Indian Cricket Board is confident that Bumrah will be fit and fine before the all-important tournament. Pacers and injuries have come hand in hand. Things have not been a good sign for India on this front.
Bumrah had missed the 20-20 World Cup in Australia due to back injury. The ace of pace had also missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to the same injury. Bumrah had underwent back surgery in New Zealand. Not only Bumrah but the rest of the Indian bowling lineup have been very injury prone. If India don’t find the root cause of the injuries, then it could be devastating come the World Cup at home.
Ravi Shastri said some of the Indian players should take permanent residency at the NCA
India have not been able to win a World event since 2013. The Men in Blue will be aiming to break their World event drought come the World cup on home soil. The Tournament will be held in India for the first time since 2011 when India won the World Cup. Indian fans will hope for history to repeat itself. Big parts of the Indian fast bowling ecosystem such as the likes of Deepak Chahar, Mukesh Choudhary and others have picked up injuries in the IPL.
This has hampered the CSK side in the IPL to some extent. Ravi Shastri and Ajay Jadeja had made interesting comments on the fast bowlers getting injured. Shastri blasted the bowlers and said many players should get permanent residency at the National Cricket Academy. Jadeja talked about batters like Shreyas Iyer getting back injuries is a rare phenomenon in itself.
Virender Sehwag also commented on the issue. He had an interesting take on it. The former India opener said that he thinks fast bowlers or Indian players are getting injured due to too much gyming. The former player said that workload is not so much the problem, but the fitness methods are.
