India is locking horns with Australia in the much-awaited World Test Championship (WTC), final at the Kennington Oval in London on Wednesday, June 7. Australia was dismissed for a score of 469 runs in the first innings on Day two, after Rohit Sharma won the toss, and asked the Aussies to bat first.

The highest scorer for the team was the left-hand batter, Travis Head, who scored  163 runs off 174 balls with 25 fours and a six in his innings. The second-highest scorer for the side was Steve Smith, who scored 121 runs from 268 balls, which included 19 fours in his innings. They both together built up a record-breaking partnership of 285 runs when their team was struggling at 76 for 3 on Day One.

On day two of the WTC final, the Indian cricket team may rejoice since they have sent back the big man Travis Head to the pavilion. It was a superb inning by Travis Head, who finished with a total of 163 runs, to put Australia in the driver’s seat for this year’s biggest Test match.

You have to take the chance: Sourav Ganguly

Mohammed Siraj, who produced an incredible delivery to remove him, is to blame for the Australian team losing their fourth wicket. In order to get wickets, the Indian bowlers devised a novel tactic of bowling bouncers at the settled batters, Steven Smith and Travis Head. India’s strategy paid off when Travis Head was caught behind for a simple catch by wicket-keeper KS Bharat.

On Wednesday, Sourav Ganguly analyzed India’s two strategic mistakes at the post-game show on Star Sports. In spite of losing 3 wickets for 76 runs, he asserted that India was still in a good position. But this is where the mistake was made. India made Travis Head’s opening goal easy to score. The strain was too much for him to manage, yet it ultimately become considerable. Ganguly said that leaving Ravichandran Ashwin off the starting lineup was his second mistake.

Sourav Ganguly, a former India captain asserted that something is evident. It is impossible to ignore a team that has spinners like R Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, or Anil Kumble. You have to take the chance. A battle for a berth on the team will be waged by the bowler with more than 470 wickets.
