Mehidy Hasan reacts to Mushfiqur Rahim’s ‘Obstruction of field’ dismissal
The dismissal of Mushfiqur Rahim against New Zealand in the second Test of the series, which raised a lot of questions among the fans. The dismissal at times, seemed rather intentional from Rahim, who went to stop the ball, which was nowhere close to hitting the stumps. In the process, the 35-year-old became the first batter from Bangladesh to be given out for ‘Obstruction of field’.
At the end of the day, Mehidy Hasan appeared in the post-match conference. The reporters asked him to react on the dismissal of Rahim. The Bangladeshi All-rounder was of the opinion that Rahim got out the way he did in an unintentional way. Mehidy felt that one would have a lot of thoughts in their mind before attempting to get out the way Rahim did.
“Look this one was not intentional, it just happened with the flow. Nobody wants to get out knowingly. There are lot of things going around at the back of the mind during different situations in a game,” said Mehidy. The spin-bowling All-rounder further compared the dismissal of Rahim with that of Angelo Mathews in the ODI World Cup 2023, which was against Bangladesh.
Mehidy Hasan brings Angelo Mathews’ dismissal to discussion
Hasan said that in the World Cup, they got the dismissal of Mathews in their favor, which was not the case against New Zealand. “In the World Cup, we got a timed-out dismissal against a Sri Lanka batter in our favor but today what happened with Mushfiq bhai, it all happened in a flow,” added Mehidy.
The spinner further added that one would not have much time to think in situations like the one Rahim had to go through. After the dismissal, Bangladesh was reduced to 172 runs, after having themselves in a decent position of 104/4 at one point in the innings. The home side made a comeback, as they reduced New Zealand to a score of 55/5. The spinners wreaked havoc on the visiting side to claim honors on Day 1.
