The star all-rounder from England, Moeen Ali is one of the four players whom Chennai retained ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. The cricketer, however, couldn’t join the squad on time as his Visa was not approved.

Yesterday, the CEO of the Chennai franchise Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that the star all-rounder will be missing the first match of Chennai against Kolkata. However, in the recent developments, Moeen has received the visa clearance and will join the franchise soon. He will be available for selection from Chennai’s second game.

The cricketer applied for a visa nearly a month ago. However, the Indian High Commission in London didn’t clear it until recently. The approval was finally granted, but a bit too late for Moeen to feature in Chennai’s first game.

The development of Ali receiving his Visa was confirmed by Cricbuzz today, on 24th March. “He picked up his papers yesterday and is ready to fly,”- said Munir Ali, Moeen’s father.

The CEO of Chennai, Kasi Viswanathan said that Moeen is set to arrive in India on March 24. “He will arrive in Mumbai in the evening and will straight away go into isolation,” he said

After arriving in India, Moeen Ali will have to undergo a three-day mandatory quarantine. This will force him to miss Chennai’s first match on 26th March. The second match of the team is five days after the first encounter, on the 31st of March. Thus, Moeen Ali will be available to play for Chennai from their second encounter against Lucknow.
