Mohammed Kaif picks his all-time Indian T20 League XI
The Indian T20 League was an innovative concept in the fact that it brought all the biggest names in the cricketing world under one roof. Since its inception, the tournament has enjoyed a great following and viewership. The stars of multiple nations getting together for one team and putting their efforts to win the ITL title captured the imaginations of the fans.
The tournament has seen some of the biggest players performing to their best in the tournament. There has been a craze among the fans in putting together the best of the players of the tournament in a dream XI. The former Indian cricketer turned commentator has joined the trend and named his all-time Indian T20 League XI.
He has named MS Dhoni as the captain of his team and has interestingly opted to go for six overseas options. The openers for his team are Rohit Sharma and Chris Gayle. While explaining his picks Kaif mentioned that Gayle made to his team being a very dangerous ITL batter, while Rohit Sharma’s run-scoring ability and five ITL titles make him the second opener. He also spoke about how MS Dhoni laid the foundation of T20 cricket in India leading the nation to the inaugural T20 World Cup victory. His middle order also comprises Suresh Raina and AB de Villiers.
“Gayle is a very dangerous ITL batter. Whenever he has done well, he has been a game-changer and has scored a lot of runs. Rohit Sharma has been playing for many years and has won five trophies as captain. An excellent short-format player. Virat Kohli is King Kohli. Has scored plenty of runs in the ITL,”- Kaif said in a conversation with Sportskeeda.
While speaking about MS Dhoni, Kaif said – “He laid the foundation of T20 cricket in India by leading the country to victory in the 2007 World Cup. He has lifted four ITL titles as well. He is a big player in T20 and a mature captain.”
As far as Kaif’s team is concerned he picked up Andre Russell and Rashid Khan as the all-rounders. His bowling lineup is made of Sunil Narine, Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga. Kaif’s ITL all time is all about impact players and it would have been one of the best teams if it had been true.
