The World number one ODI bowler Mohammed Siraj revealed the reason for his famous Ronaldo celebration after rattling the stumps of Travis Head during the first ODI between India and Australia in Mumbai. India went on to win the game by 5 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in a three-match series.

It has been understood that Siraj is a big fan of the Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and he is often seen replicating his famous ‘SIUU’ celebration after he gets a wicket. The right-arm pacer was the main anchor of the Indian bowling as he took 3 wickets in 5.4 overs conceding 29 runs. Australia were bowled out for 188 runs, losing the last 8 wickets for just 59 runs.

After the completion of the first ODI, Siraj revealed that he only performs this celebration when the batter is clean bowled.

“I am a big fan of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. That’s why whenever I get a wicket clean bowled or in some other brilliant way during a match, it comes out from inside me. But if the batter gets out after playing a shot to fine leg, then I do not do this celebration,” said Siraj while talking to Shami after the match.

‘My plan was to keep things very simple’ – Siraj

“My plan was to keep things very simple. (Talking to Shami) As you saw while bowling on the wicket, you were getting help. After that, I also talked to you, and the tips you gave helped me a lot. He was a left-handed batsman, so I tried the inswing, which got the wicket,” the Indian pacer added.

Talking about the match, India had a disastrous start while chasing a target of 189 runs. The hosts lost the first 4 wickets for just 39 runs. After that, KL Rahul took the responsibility on his shoulders and scored an unbeaten 75 runs off 91 balls hitting seven fours and a maximum.

Rahul forged a partnership of 108 runs for the sixth wicket with Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 45 runs off 69 runs and finished the game for India with a boundary. India made 191 runs in 39.5 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. The second ODI of the series will be played on March 19 at the Dr. Y.S.Rajashekar Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
