India and Pakistan will renew their World Cup rivalry for the 8th time in history. The game is set to be played in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium. In the sole game played here before New Zealand chased down 283 runs score set by England with 9 wickets in hand.

Both teams have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the ODI World Cup 2023. The Indians have beaten Afghanistan and Australia while the Pakistanis have beaten Netherlands and Sri Lanka.

It is expected to be a sell-out as the game between the two traditional rivals. India and Pakistan have played each other twice this year during the 2023 Asia Cup. The first game in Pallekele was washed out. India won the second game in Colombo by 228 runs and went to win the tournament.

Dew is likely to play a major role during the game

With the monsoon out of the way, one can expect a full game of cricket at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat. The maximum temperature during the day is set to be 36 degrees with a low of 26 degrees.

The players could experience sweltering heat when the match begins. But as the soon goes down the temperature will turn cooler and much more pleasant. The outfield is electric fast and the pitch is expected to be a batting paradise.

The team winning the toss may choose to bowl first as there is a good amount of dew expected. According to former Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun, holding the ball and getting spin becomes under lights with dew present.

For the Indian team, there is good news as Shubman Gill is fit for the game and is expected to play. The 24-year-old will open for India along with Rohit Sharma with Ishan Kishan likely to be benched. The Indian bowling unit will also be under pressure as the Ahmedabad ground is known for a high-boundary scoring percentage.

Pakistan is set to field the same team from their last game. Abdullah Shafique had come into the team to replace Fakhar Zaman. The 23-year-old repaid the faith of his team by scoring his first ODI century. Mohammad Rizwan also scored his best ODI score during the massive 345 run chase against Sri Lanka.
