The 16th season of domestic cricket’s grandest spectacle came to an end on Tuesday with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) shocking victory in the IPL 2023 final. At the renowned Narendra Modi Stadium, MS Dhoni and company won a record-extending fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) championship thanks to a late flourish from Ravindra Jadeja. The legendary trophy was won by record-breaking winner CSK on the reserve day in Ahmedabad, defeating the reigning champions Gujarat Titans in a nail-biting final-ball contest.

Jadeja smashed a six and a four on the final two balls of the dramatic match to help CSK defeat GT in the final at Ahmedabad as they chased down the revised total of 171 runs in 15 overs. With the victory, CSK matched Mumbai Indians’ (MI) record for the most IPL championships won. Devon Conway of CSK was selected Player of the Match for his blistering 47-run innings in the IPL 2023 final.

Shubman Gill awarded Player of the Tournament

The Player of the Tournament was Shubman Gill, who scored a thrilling 39 from 20 balls. In the 16th season of the cash-rich league, the GT opener enjoyed a fantastic campaign. By scoring a magnificent century against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2, Gill had brought GT to the IPL 2023 championship game. In the IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was eliminated earlier, thanks to Gill’s magnificent century against them. The in-form India opener won the prestigious Orange Cap trophy in the IPL 2023 after smashing 890 runs.

The Eden Gardens of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Wankhede Stadium of the Mumbai Indians (MI) were named the Best Venues of the Season. Runners-up Gujarat Titans won INR 12.5 crore in prize money, while Dhoni’s CSK team took home INR 20 crore in cash for their outstanding campaign.
