‘Our squad will be a little different to what we have here’ – Rahul Dravid opens up on India’s performance in T20I series against West Indies
India’s all-format head coach Rahul Dravid recently had a chat with Cricbuzz and addressed the questions that were raised in the minds of most of the Indian cricket team fans. Dravid openly talked about India’s batting depth and his opinions on the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be hosted by West Indies and the USA.
Following the Indian cricket team’s series loss against the West Indies for the first time in a decade, the head coach addressed this massive loss and said that the team management is looking forward to exploring the depth of the batting lineup. He talked about how the squad available for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be different from this tour, as this squad didn’t allow the team to find the flexibility and striking combinations.

“Our squad (for the World Cup) will be a little different to what we have here. In terms of the squad that we had here, it didn’t allow us the flexibility to have the combination to allow us to make the changes. Going forward, we will have to look at certain areas where we can get better,” said Rahul Dravid.
“Finding depth in our batting is an area that we are trying to address and do as best as we possibly can. But that’s certainly an area that we need to look at, how we can not weaken our bowling attack but have a certain depth in our batting that can go deeper. As the game is going on, the scores are becoming bigger and bigger,” added Rahul Dravid.
“We tried to do a few things (in the ODI series) with the World Cup and the Asia Cup coming up. The goals of that (ODI series) were slightly different from what we wanted to achieve, and glad there were some important lessons from that one-day series and got the right result,” concluded Rahul Dravid.
