Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah’s hilarious response to English journalist’s question sends others in splits
Pakistan is set to return to the field after the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in which they reached the finals. They are ready to host the co-finalists from the tournament, England. Both teams will play a three-match Test series, starting on December 1. Not to forget, this is a historic series as Pakistan is hosting the Three Lions for the first time after 2005.
Meanwhile, ahead of the first Test in Rawalpindi, Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah faced questions from the journalists. During the press conference, the right-arm pacer was asked about the longevity of England’s James Anderson. Apparently, the veteran Englishman is the only pacer or bowler in fact to play 175 Tests. The next best is his new-ball bowling partner, Stuart Broad with 159 games.
Meanwhile, Naseem said that Anderson has achieved a lot as a pacer. The former added that as a fast bowler, he understands how difficult it is to maintain that much longevity. The young pacer further added that a lot can be learned from Anderson
“It’s a very big achievement because I’m a fast bowler, I know how hard it is. He’s a legend, we learn a lot of things from him. When we meet, we discuss about this. He’s still playing at 40, he’s still fit, so you can imagine how much hard work he’s putting,” Shah said.
Sorry brother, my English is finished now: Naseem Shah
After his response, the 19-year-old was asked about the difference between ‘Pace and Skills’. Before the journalist could finish his question, the Quetta Gladiators player in the PSL said “Brother, I have just 30 percent English. My English is finished now, okay?” Naseem said, leading to laughter across the room.
Talking about Anderson, he has played 175 Tests and has 667 wickets to his name. He is nearing the Late Shane Warne’s record of 708 wickets. Even though the Lancashire player might not be able to break the record in the series, he still can come close.
