The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was all set for a thrilling series decider as India locked horns with South Africa on 19 June 2022, Sunday. After losing the first two matches, India came back strongly by winning the next two.

However, rain played a spoilsport as the match was abandoned. The match went only for 21 balls as India scored 28 runs only after losing two wickets of Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Both the players and fans waited eagerly until umpires decided officially to call off this match. Fans were completely disappointed and the situation in the stadium was worse than that.

“What was even more disappointing was the state of affairs inside the stadium!” – Fans on Twitter

Fans shared images of the pathetic condition of the stadium on their social media platform along with some videos also. Both images and videos showed that the seats were seen covered with water, making life difficult for fans who had paid to come to watch the decider.

Here are the Tweets:

It was quite frustrating for the fans as the Indian Cricket Board is known as the richest Cricket Board in the world. Earlier this month, Secretary Jay Shah said that the Indian T20 League’s generated revenue will help in strengthening the domestic cricket infrastructure. He said: “The Indian Cricket Board will utilize the revenue generated from the Indian T20 League to strengthen our domestic cricket structure starting from grassroots, to boost infrastructure and spruce up facilities across India and enrich the overall cricket-watching experience,”

He also added that now the state associations need to work together with the franchises to improve the fan experience. “Now, it’s time for our state associations, Indian T20 League Franchises to work together with the Indian T20 League to enhance the fan experience and ensure that our biggest stakeholder ‘the cricket fan’ is well looked after and enjoys high-quality cricket in world-class facilities,” Jay Shah concluded.

However, as this match got washed away, the Karnataka State Cricket Association offered a 50 percent refund for the ticket prices to fans.
