In the ongoing first ODI between India and Sri Lanka, KL Rahul has been included in the playing despite his poor form. In the last few months, he has been struggling for runs across formats. Not to forget when he leads the team as a stand-in, he failed to perform. Meanwhile, once again, the right-hander has been included in the team.

The fans aren’t happy with Rahul’s inclusion. They feel that with Ishan Kishan on the side, he could have played in place of Rahul. Also, the latter will be keeping the wickets in the ongoing game. Since 2020, the Bangalore player has been keeping the wickets for India in white-ball formats on a few occasions. Meanwhile, the fans aren’t happy with KL’s inclusion.

India has had a great start with the bat so far

Meanwhile, in the ongoing game, the Lankan Lions skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl first. He cited dew during the second innings of the game. On the other hand, India skipper Rohit Sharma said “Yesterday when we were training, the ground was full of dew.” Meanwhile, at the time of writing, India openers, Sharma and Shubman Gill have provided a great start at the time of writing.

After six overs, the Men In Blue have amassed 42 runs for no loss. Gill is batting on 25 while Rohit has scored 17. Notably, the latter is coming after an injury layoff. In December last year, he sustained a thumb injury during the second ODI against Bangladesh. In that game, the right-hander came out to bat at number nine and scored a quick fifty. However, he failed to save his side from the five-run loss. Now, he is opening the batting and would look to go big.
