The Indian T20 League 2022 has come to an end and the India are now set to play a five-match T20 series against South Africa. The series will be played from 9th to 19th June 2022. The first T20 international is slated to be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Most of the senior players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah etc. have been rested for the series. In their absence, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have been appointed as the captain and the vice-captain respectively.
Players like Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh have been handed their maiden call-ups. A lot of youngsters are present in the team. There are also a few experienced players in the squad for whom the upcoming series could be a do-or-die series. Here’s a look at those players.
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar
There is no denying the fact that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been a shadow of his former self. He has lost a bit of pace and his ability to swing the ball has taken a hit in the last couple of years as well. In the recently concluded edition of the Indian T20 League 2022, he managed to pick only 12 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 31.92.
With so many youngsters coming through the ranks, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s career is hanging by a thread. He might not get another chance to prove himself if dishes out disappointing performances against South Africa.
