 Premier League 2022-23: New Teams, Players, Rules, And Other Details For The New Season

The 31st season of the Premier League kicked off on 5 August 2022. This season will go on until 28 May 2022. Crystal Palace took on Arsenal in the first match of this season. However, Arsenal won the match 2-0. However, this season brought some new rules into the game. Along with it, clubs have signed new players in the ongoing transfer window. 

New teams gained promotion also from the lower division of English football. All 20 teams will look to play all the 38 matches this season with a motive to win this prestigious tournament. Manchester United are currently the record title winners in the English top flight. They won the division a total of 20 times since 1889.

All the required and detailed changes happened for the Premier League 2022-23

New Rules

Each team can make five substitutions a game, up from three. Along with it, players will take the knee before some selected games now. Unlike last editions, no games will be stopped for a medical emergency in the stands unless absolutely necessary. a multi-ball system has been introduced to reduce delays when the ball is out of play. Meanwhile, there will be 10 balls in total – the match ball, one with the fourth official, and eight around the pitch next to the Ball assistants.

New Teams

Nottingham Forest, Fulham, and Bournemouth got promotion back to the top flight. On the other side, Burnley, Norwich, and Watford got relegated to the Championship.

New Managers

Manchester United brought Erik ten Hag for this season. He became the eighth person to manage the club since Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013. Apart from him, Steve Cooper was another new manager who will manage at Nottingham Forrest.

New Players

Several big premier league signings happened this summer. Erling Halland came to Manchester City while Liverpool replaced Sadio Mane with the Benfica striker Darwin Nunez for £64m. Tottenham signed Richarlison. While Arsenal brought Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from City.

On the other hand, Manchester United brought in Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez. Chelsea signed Raheem Sterling and defender Kalidou Koulibaly. However, several big names like Paul Pogba, Mane, and Romelu Lukaku left for other clubs.

New Winter Break

The next edition of the World Cup is going to happen in November and December. Hence, there will be no Premier League football between 13 November and 26 December.

Broadcasting Details

Star Sports network will telecast all the matches on Television in India. But, the live streaming will be available on Disney+ Hotstar and JioTV in India.
