Babar Azam’s trouble doesn’t seem to end as his captaincy faces an uncertain future. With the loss to South Africa on Friday the Pakistani team is almost out of the ODI World Cup 2023. Post this loss there are lots of questions being raised on the future of Babar Azam as the national Captain.

Former Pakistani skipper and wicket-keeper Rashid Latif has made a huge claim on Babar Azam’s captaincy future. The comments were made during the post-game analysis show in Pakistan.

The 1992 World Cup winners will next play Bangladesh on Tuesday. This will be followed by a game against New Zealand and England to close out their campaign. While for all intent and purposes, Pakistan are knocked out, there is still a mathematical chance for them to make the final four.

Rashid Latif throws light on Zaka Ashraf and Babar Azam’s troubled equation –

Pakistani cricket fans and former players are heartbroken after their fourth loss in the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. The margin of victory was just one wicket for Temba Bavuma and his side.

Rashid Latif during one chat show said “I know for a fact that Babar hasn’t got a response from the PCB chief when he called and messaged from India”. There has been a huge chorus seeking Babar Azam’s removal as the Pakistani skipper.

It was also revealed by Rashid Latif that the players haven’t received their dues for the last few months. The former Pakistani skipper said “The players have not got salaries. The chairman isn’t responding to the captain and in these circumstances what can we expect from the team”

According to Rashid Latif, there was huge pressure on Babar Azam as far as some advertising was concerned. “you have to see who are the people who have been hit by this ban on surrogate advertising. Babar is being punished for his bold and principled stand on surrogate advertising before the World Cup”

Wasim Akram meanwhile wasn’t pleased with the captaincy shown by the 29-year-old. Akram said “I don’t know what Babar was doing. Why give Nawaz the over when he had not bowled well at all in the innings and was lacking confidence? Usama was the obvious choice with the fast bowlers having finished their spells. Poor captaincy”

Yet another former skipper chimed in and this time it was Shoaib Malik. The 43-year-old was blunt in his assessment when he said “I have always said that Babar is not made for captaincy. He can’t handle the pressure and it is affecting his batting badly”.
