Reports: CSK to retains MS Dhoni for three years, KL Rahul likely to lead Lucknow in IPL 2022
If the latest reports are to be believed, then Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have retained legendary cricketer, MS Dhoni, for three years ahead of the mega auctions. The franchise have also retained talismanic all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad as the second and third players respectively. CSK are also likely to retain one between England all-rounders Moeen Ali and Sam Curran for the next season.
The BCCI had earlier allowed the franchises to retain up to four players. The deadline for the submission of the list is November 30. Having led CSK to a win in IPL 2021, many speculated that Dhoni might bid adieu to the game. However, he stated that he wants to play his last game in Chennai. However, he admitted that CSK might not retain him owing to the new retention policy.
“Again, I’ve said it before, it depends on BCCI. With two new teams coming in. We have to decide what is good for CSK. It’s not about me being there in top-three or four. It’s about making a strong core to ensure the franchise doesn’t suffer. The core group, we have to have a hard look to see who can contribute for the next 10 years.”
“Still, I haven’t left behind,” concluded MS Dhoni after winning the IPL 2021 Trophy for the fourth time.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul is likely to part ways with Punjab Kings (PBKS). If a report in Indian Express is anything to go by, then the right-hand batter is set to lead Lucknow, one of the two new IPL teams. The owners have got in touch with Rahul and he has given his nod.
