‘We know this issue that’s come up now……’ – Ricky Ponting brings up David Warner’s truth amid ugly spat with Mitchell Johnson
The Australian cricket team is all set to lock horns against Pakistan for the three matches of the Test series slated to take place on December 14 in Perth. However, Australian cricket stars Mitchell Johnson and David Warner have been making headlines ahead of the three matches of the Test series.
Earlier, former Aussie cricketer Johnson lashed out at the Australian selector for picking up left-handed batter David Warner in the first Test of the series despite his poor form in the red ball of cricket. In addition, the 42-year-old cricketer feels David Warner doesn’t deserve the place in the Test squad against Green Army.
“As we prepare for David Warner’s farewell series, can somebody please tell me why? Why does a struggling Test opener get to nominate his retirement date? And why a player at the centre of one of the biggest scandals in Australian cricket history warrants a hero’s send-off?” Mitchell Johnson said.
I have to get in between these two guys at some stage: Ricky Ponting
Following this controversy, former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting has turned up as the mediator between two-star cricketers to resolve this matter. Moreover, the legendary cricketer, reveals that the fight between Warner and Johnson started during the selection of the Ashes series. Furthermore, the former top-order batter feels they need to settle their issues face-to-face rather than taking jibes at each other.
“I have to get in between these two guys at some stage. I think I need to be the mediator and get them both in a room and let them have it out rather than playing it out in the media. They’re both pretty feisty characters and we know this issue that’s come up now goes back six or eight months, back to the Ashes selection. That’s where it all started. It sounds like an issue that’s gone on without either of them sitting down and having a face-to-face conversation. I’d like to see that happen,” Ricky Ponting said on Sunrise.
