The Indian cricket team is currently in Ireland for a three-match T20 series. The Men in Blue head into the final game on Wednesday holding a 2-0 lead in the series. The series was seen as a perfect comeback vehicle for the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, who had been out injured. This series was also the perfect chance for the Indian selectors to try out young talents like Rinku Singh, who has been toiling hard in the domestic circuit.

Rinku Singh made an instant impact with a quick-fire 38 in his debut innings for India. The 25-year-old left-handed batter from UP scored his runs off just 21 balls with two fours and three sixes in his knock. Rinku Singh made his international cricket bow during the 1st T20 played last Friday. Due to the inclement weather, Rinku Singh did not get a chance to bat.

Rinku Singh’s life-changing moment

IPL 2023, saw Rinku Singh script history during the game against Gujarat Titans. Rinku Singh, hit five sixes to win the game for his side Kolkata Knight Riders. This onslaught got the young left-handed batter into focus as there were widespread calls for his inclusion in the national setup.

After batting for the first time in the Indian colours, Rinku Singh was speaking to teammate Ravi Bishnoi for the Indian Cricket Board’s official website. Rinku Singh claimed “Those five sixes changed my life. People remember me for that moment. I was feeling great when they took my name and the love they have been showering me with”

Ever since the retirement of MS Dhoni, the Indian team has been looking for a finisher. Hardik Pandya was initially looked at for the role. Rinku Singh has now emerged as a potential candidate for the finishing role.

The 25-year-old while speaking to Ravi Bishnoi further said “I was incredibly excited to bat in the opening contest. But it’s fine, we won. I always plan to bat till the end, like I do in the IPL. I was going for my shots in the final two-three overs. The plan is to stay cool and calm and that’s what I have been doing”

Rinku Singh isn’t part of the 17-man squad that was chosen for the Asia Cup 2023 campaign on Monday. The left-handed batter will be eyeing the gold medal when the Indian team will fly to China to play in the 19th edition of the Asian Games. The team will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and has some of the best young talents part of Indian cricket currently.
