Kolkata Knight Riders batter Rinku Singh has been in the minds of every cricket fan since he made his team won out of nowhere against Gujarat Titans by hitting five consecutive sixes in the last over. The 25-year-old has been receiving appreciation from the cricketing fraternity, since. However, former Indian batter, Virendra Sehwag has made a different statement about the young batter.

Sehwag, who was known for his power hitting from the very first ball of the innings, believes that Rinku was lucky in the last game against GT and he won’t be able to do that again in the last over.

“There is a belief in KKR team that Rinku Singh is still there. When MS Dhoni had started finishing off games, there was a belief that Dhoni is still there. In 90s, it was if Tendulkar is there match can be won, if not then no. Now the same thing is with KKR and Rinku Singh. Before it was Andre Russell for them,” said Sehwag in conversation with Cricbuzz moments.

“This has never happened in the history of cricket and Rinku Singh will never be able to do this again. This record that has happened, it might be broke, but Rinku will never in his life be able to hit 6 sixes and break that record,” the former cricketer further added.

‘You also need a bit of luck’ – Sehwag

Sehwag also added that Yash Dayal bowling the last over helped Rinku as they both played together for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket.

“You also need a bit of luck. If it was Alzarri Joseph bowling even Rinku would have known that he wouldn’t be able to hit him. But he has faced Yash Dayal all his life in the nets. So Rinku had the right mindset,” Sehwag said.

KKR are now taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing match at the Eden Gardens. Batting first, SRH posted a mammoth total of 228 for 3, powered by Harry Brook knock, who scored the first century of the season.
