Riyan Parag has been a part of the Rajasthan team in the recently concluded Indian T20 League season. He was an integral part of the team throughout the tournament. Parag played some fiery little cameos for the Men in Pink and was incredibly brilliant as a fielder.

In the 38th match of the Indian T20 League 2022, Rajasthan was facing Bangalore. Riyan Parag was at his best while finishing the innings for his team. He scored 56 runs off 31 balls in the match and remained unbeaten. In the last over of the Rajasthan innings, Parag took Harshal Patel to the cleaners and scored 18 runs off it. But the scenes got unpleasant after this as the teams were going back to the dugouts.

The Bangalore bowlers Mohammad Siraj and Harshal Patel were seen engaged in a verbal spat with the young batter. Even after the match ended Harshal was seen avoiding Parag as he did not shake hands with the batter. The incident went viral on social media with followers being divided into two groups. While a group of fans stood behind Parag another group took a stand for Harshal and Siraj.

In a recent stream on Rooter, Riyan Parag spoke about the controversy and gave the backdrop of the incident. He also stated why the event turned out as it did. The Rajasthan player said- “Last year, in 2021, when we were playing Harshal dismissed me and made a gesture with his hand. I did not see it then I only noticed it when I watched the video after going back to the hotel. That stayed with me. This year when I got the better of him, I gave it back. As the innings finished and we were going back to the dugout, Siraj called me and said, ‘You are a kid and act like one.’ I just said, ‘I haven’t said anything to you’, our teammates intervened at this point and the matter ended there.”

Talking about the match, Rajasthan emerged victorious by a margin of 29 runs.
