Rajasthan batter, Riyan Parag was involved in an ugly mix-up with Ravichandran Ashwin during the first innings of the qualifier 1 match between Gujarat and Rajasthan. The incident happened on the last ball of the first innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin was at strike and Riyan Parag was at the non-striker’s end. Yash Dayal bowled a wide delivery to Ashwin. As soon as the bowler completed his follow-through, Ran Parag ran to take a single.

However, Ashwin wasn’t interesting in taking a single. By the time the ball had reached the keeper’s gloves, Parag had reached Ashwin’s end but the latter stood there as he was in no mood to run towards the other end. As a result of that mix-up, Riyan Parag got run out. He gave a death stare to Ashwin before going back to the pavilion. You can see the video here:

With the last ball being a wide delivery, Dayal had to bowl the last ball again. Ashwin took a brace on the last delivery as Rajasthan had managed to compile a 188-run target at the end of the first innings. Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson made notable contributions with the bat.

Buttler was finding it hard initially to get his timing right but Samson struck fours and sixes to ease the pressure off the former. Samson played an outstanding knock of 47 runs in 26 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes. Buttler changed gears in the slog overs and went on to play a stellar knock of 89 runs in 56 balls, helping the team to reach a competitive score on the board.

However, despite that, Gujarat chased down the score with three balls remaining in the second innings. Shubman Gill and Mathew Wade provide a valuable start at the top of the order. The duo added 72 runs for the first wicket but both of them got out inside the first 10 overs. Later, Hardik Pandya and David Miller put on an unbeaten 106-run partnership to guide the team home. The victory meant Gujarat reached the final of the competition. Rajasthan still have another chase. They will now be playing in the Qualifier 2 on Friday.
