The Mumbai franchise are all set to start their campaign in the upcoming season of the Indian T20 League with a match against the Bangalore franchise on April 2nd at the Chinnaaswamy stadium. Mumbai will be looking to go ahead of the disastrous season in 2022, where the five-time champions finished at number 10 in the points table by winning only four out of their 14 league matches.

However, Mumbai will be missing their key pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the upcoming season. The Indian pacer hasn’t played any competitive cricket since September 2022 due to lower back problems. The 29-year-old recently underwent surgery due to which he will be missing from the cricketing action for almost six more months.

However, it looks like the Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma has found the two potential young pacers who could be Bumrah’s replacement in the upcoming season. Rohit feels that Bumrah will be a big miss but it also brings out the opportunities for the young players and said that he also has ‘couple of guys’ who could play his role in the upcoming season.

“We know that Bumrah’s not available. We have a couple of guys who could do Bumrah’s role in the team. We will keep an eye on that, hopefully, whatever they space Bumrah was in, the others guys can come and do that for us,” said Rohit In a press conference ahead of the upcoming tournament.

‘I would love to keep it simple for them’ – Rohit

Rohit also said that he doesn’t want to put pressure on the youngsters in order to replace Bumrah. He said that it’s an opportunity for them to express themselves and make an impact.

“He (Bumrah) is a big miss. But it’s an opportunity for the youngsters in the team.I don’t want to put too much pressure on the youngsters. Leading up to the first game, guys know what their role is, the last thing we want to do is put pressure on them. For guys who haven’t played the Indian T20 League before, there are quite a few guys, and if they get an opportunity, I would love to keep it simple for them,” Mumbai skipper further added.
