Rohit Sharma Takes A Dig On Kapil Dev For His Comments On Virat Kohli’s Form
After losing the one-off Test match against England earlier this month, India made a great comeback as they won the scheduled three-match T20I series at a margin of 2-1. India sealed the series by winning the first two matches while they lost a thriller in Nottingham by 17 runs as Jos Buttler registered his first-ever win as the captain of England.
In the first match, players from the Ireland T20I squad played while big players like Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah were added for the last two matches. But, Virat Kohli failed again to shine as he scored only 12 runs in two matches. Earlier this series, former India captain Kapil Dev raised questions over this batter’s selection as he had been going through a rough patch for a long time. Now, after the conclusion of the series, skipper Rohit Sharma came out in support of his former captain in the press conference.
“Kapil Dev doesn’t know what goes behind the scenes, we have a thought process” – Rohit Sharma
Speaking to reporters at the press conference, Rohit Sharma said that Kapil Dev is watching the game from the outside. Hence, he is unaware of the thighs that are ongoing within the team. He said: “Kapil Dev doesn’t know what goes behind the scenes, we have a thought process, we make the team and there’s a good discussion behind that. We give a run to the players, we back them. Whatever goes outside doesn’t matter to us, what is going inside does,”

Rohit also added that he does not get the concept of calling some people an expert. Even, he said that Kohli’s recent dip in form will not let him forget about his contribution to the team in the last decade. “I don’t know who are the experts who comment on a player’s spot. We back player seeing their quality, if someone has been great for a decade we can’t just see what has happened over last few years,” he added.
Rohit Sharma also said that every batter goes through a rough patch but that does not fade away their quality. “Form is something which goes up and down, but the quality of the player remains the same. We should keep this in mind before making comments on other players, we know the importance of each player,” he concluded.
