Sachin Tendulkar comes in support of under-fire KL Rahul
The last few weeks haven’t really been great for KL Rahul. After losing the second of the three-match Test series against South Africa as a captain, India were also whitewashed by the Proteas in the three-match ODI series under his leadership. Thus, this led to several people criticizing his captaincy skills.
Several cricket experts even questioned his style of leadership. Thus, from being called as India’s future captain to being deemed not fit to lead, Rahul hasn’t had a great start to his captaincy stint for the Asian side. However, he found support in the form of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
The “God of Cricket” went on to back him, and asked him not to lose hope. Tendulkar even praised the pair of Rahul and Rohit Sharma, and had some inspirational words for them. “Rohit & Rahul is a fantastic pair. I know that guys would give their best shot and prepare to the best of their ability. You have so many people backing you. It’s all about having that support at the right time. Of course, everyone has played enough cricket. Rahul has played enough cricket to understand there are gonna be ups and downs along the way. Not to lose hope is the only thing. Keep trying and we will keep moving forward,” said Sachin Tendulkar on ‘Backstage with Boria’.
In the meanwhile, Tendulkar also spoke about the 50-over World Cup in 2011, where he was a part of the title-winning campaign. The legend mentioned the fact that this was the biggest and most important trophy there is. Thus, he said that he would love to see one more trophy to the cabinet.
“In the month of April this year, we’ll complete 11 years of World Cup win. That’s a long wait. Everyone including me would love to see that trophy in BCCI’s cabinet. This is one trophy that all the cricketers play for. It doesn’t get any bigger than that… be it a shorter or longer format. World Cup is something special and that’s what I feel,” he said.
