Ravindra Jadeja just completed his West Indies tour earlier this week as India clinched the T20I series at a margin of 4-1. Even, he had a great outing in the fifth rescheduled Test match against England. He scored his first ever ton outside Asia. But, still, Sanjay Manjrekar came up with a suggestion for this Indian all-rounder ahead of the T20 World Cup.

However, this is not the first time that Manjrekar came up with criticism regarding his abilities. He said that Jadeja still needs to improve his batting abilities to have a place in the playing XI in the upcoming World Cup for India.

“Ravindra Jadeja himself knows there is some serious competition coming in.” – Sanjay Manjrekar

Speaking in an interview with Sports 18, Sanjay Manjrekar said that Jadeja should make him an adequate replacement for Dinesh Karthik. He said: “If he is going to be a batting all-rounder, then he has got to show that he is an adequate replacement to somebody like a Dinesh Karthik, who is likely to bat at No. 6 or No. 7, or somebody like a Hardik Pandya at No. 6,”

Sanjay also added that Jadeja is well-aware of that situation. Hence, he needs to convince the current team management to consider him in playing XI. If he is competing as a bowling all-rounder, he has got to convince the team management that he is better than Axar Patel as a second spinning option,” Manjrekar added.

Sanjay Manjrekar also said that he needs to stick with a specific role whether as a bowling all-rounder or a batting all-rounder. “Ravindra Jadeja himself knows there is some serious competition coming in. So it is really about Jadeja now convincing the selectors whether he is going to be a bowling all-rounder or a batting all-rounder. Depending on that, his place on the team will be decided.” Manjrekar concluded. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja will be in action again for India in the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup, later this month.
