Pakistan is gearing up to win its second 20-20 World Cup title on November 13 as they face England. For the third time since 2007, the team will be playing in the title clash of the tournament. 15 years back, they lost to India in the final and almost two years later, won their maiden title by beating Sri Lanka in the final. Meanwhile, the journey to the final of the ongoing tournament wasn’t easy.

They started by losing to India and Zimbabwe on the last ball of these games. Notably, on both occasions, all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz was caught in the middle of it. Against the Men In Blue, the left-hander bowled the last over and couldn’t defend 13 runs off the last three balls. On the other hand, Nawaz failed to score three runs off as many balls against the Southern African side.

These defeats had put the 2009 winners on the brink of elimination. However, thanks to winning their remaining games and a stroke of luck, they qualified for the semis where they beat New Zealand to reach the final. Meanwhile, ahead of the final, Pakistan’s vice-captain, Shadab Khan has revealed the horrifying experiences of Nawaz after the losses against India and Zimbabwe.

Mohammad Nawaz used to think about the losses every morning: Shadab Khan

Before speaking about Nawaz’s experience, Khan mentioned that his side dominated the games against India and Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, the latter also pointed out how Nawaz was caught in the middle of the losses against those sides.

“I think personally, we dominated in both the games that we lost. Nawaz was there on both occasions, and after the Zimbabwe game, he came to me (and said), ‘I try to forget. But when I wake up, I remember 3-ball 13, and 3 ball 3. And I say, ‘What I have done!’” Shadab said in an interview with Nasser Hussain on Sky Sports Cricket.

“We played a lot of good cricket. But we couldn’t finish it. Otherwise, we’ve done well as a team. And that’s why we have confidence on ourselves,” Shadab said further.
